Soul Through Mental Health Counseling PLLC, was started by Jarely Galeas who is a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Certified Clinical Mental Health Professional. Jarely graduated from Long Island University in New York with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, while also receiving her clinical New York State license. In addition, Jarely completed an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and she is currently recognized as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Jarely has lengthy experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults from a variety of cultures. In addition to her private practice, she has worked in mental health clinics, hospitals, and colleges. She has worked as a therapist for children and adolescents in nonprofit agencies under the supervision of The New York State Office of Mental Health, The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS); and The Office of Refugee Resettlement – An Office of the Administration for Children & Families.
My counseling style is warm, caring, and interactive. I create a safe, stigma-free environment where all clients are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion.
I work to form a treatment plan in coordination with the client so that we can have the most successful counseling relationship possible. Together we can begin to create a space where they feel seen, heard, and understood. As we discover potential underlying issues, I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy with strength-based approach to help people change their thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior to improve their current situation and their work and interpersonal relationships.
My goal is for my clients to enjoy the challenges presented during sessions and find the modifications that we devise together are the changes they seek. Many of my clients already have the answers and just need help finding their way to take next steps to realize their transformation. I am completely dedicated to providing my clients with the emotional support and guidance to achieve healthier and happier lives.

I specialize in working with elderly patients and patients impacted by addiction specifically adult children of alcoholics.My goal is to create an environment where you can feel heard, supported, explore your inner world and make changes to live a more fulfilling life. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions rooted in Psychodynamic therapy, which emphasizes exploring early relationships and experiences and making connections with patterns and behaviors in your life today. Living in four different countries has given me a unique understanding of being an expat and starting over, particularly in bustling New York City. With a robust background in management and a passion for serving others, she has spearheaded an art therapy program across Bronx schools, expanding her expertise in the field. Her deep-seated compassion, cultivated through diverse life experiences, informs her commitment to client care and support. Some people have a hard time finding a private space that feels quiet enough, safe, and comfortable, especially if the therapy process is interrupted by family members, mail and food delivery people, or your pets.
Technical difficulties may arise that might disrupt the audio or video, altering the flow of the session.
Some people feel less intimacy in the relationship with their therapist when comparing in-person experiences to teletherapy, and canceling therapy or changing it last minute will be slightly more embarrassing.
